Complete your Volunteer Registration: We are no longer accepting any new volunteers for the 2008 LA Film Festival. If you have already filled out the online application to volunteer, you must complete the following steps in order to complete registration. First, print out the Volunteer Handbook. Next, email us at volunteers@filmindependent.org and let us know you’ve read the Handbook and are ready to volunteer. We will send you a few questions to prove that you’ve read through the Handbook and once you’ve answered the questions correctly, we will send you an Availability Sheet. Once we receive your Availability Sheet, we will schedule you for your volunteer shifts and you should receive your schedule within 24 hours. You have until Friday, June 13 at 5pm to complete registration.
Due to the increasing popularity of the Los Angeles Film Festival, we have reached our maximum number of volunteers and are no longer accepting any new volunteer applications at this time. Thank you for your interest in volunteering! You can volunteer all year long for Film Independent at www.filmindependent.org or check in December for volunteer opportunities for the Spirit Awards.
Held annually in June, Film Independent’s Los Angeles Film Festival showcases the best of American and International cinema over the course of 11 days. We screen more then 250 features, documentaries, shorts, and music videos. Now in its 14th year and with attendance upwards of 80,000 filmgoers, the Festival has grown into a world-class event uniting new and established filmmakers with the movie-loving public. But we can't do it all without your help!
What you can expect as a volunteer:
- You will have a rewarding experience while being treated with courtesy and respect.
- Although you will work hard, you can expect to have fun.
- Volunteer shifts run approximately 5 hours.
- You'll get a behind-the-scenes look at how a festival is run and learn more about the entertainment business.
- You'll work with a team of professionals that enjoys movies just as much as you do.
- You'll make new friends and connections.
- You'll have the opportunity to view films before they are released (as well as some that may never be released).
What we expect from volunteers:
- We expect you to arrive for your scheduled shift on time, dressed appropriately, and ready to work.
- We expect you to abide by our rules of conduct both on- and off-duty. Remember, you officially represent the Festival.
- We expect you to become familiar with the information in the Festival Film Guide.
- We expect you to treat everyone with respect – friendliness and a smile can often make someone’s day.
- If you are unable to make a shift or are running late to a shift, we expect you to contact one of the Volunteer Coordinators immediately so we may ensure the Festival runs smoothly.
- We expect you to work to your fullest capacity, but allow yourself time to enjoy the Festival.
Past films that have played at the Festival include:
