LA Film Festival Atmosphere - Sunday, 6/24 pic

Yesterday I had tickets to two films: BILLY THE KID and PRISON TOWN, USA. I went to the festival site a little early because I had an interview lined up with BILLY THE KID director, Jennifer Venditti. (She is amazing by the way! You can check out my video interview with Jennifer on my LA Film Festival Blog site: http://www.SkyLifeProductions.com)

This was my first time back at this particular area since the opening night screening and gala and again I was so impressed with how clearly the signs were for parking! And the entire festival location atmosphere is just so wonderful! If you're not able to make it down (why not!?) I took a bunch of pics so you could see what I'm talking about. To view all the pictures, visit my website: http://www.SkyLifeProductions.com

I also uploaded the Filmmakers Q&A from the documentary, PRISON TOWN, USA and a mini-video blog before I headed out there.

Enjoy!

Rockin' the Broxton Don't just pop in, catch a movie, and then go home -- come hang out at the Festival Promenade on Broxton! From June 22 to June 30, the Promenade will feature live music every day, in addition to cool events like Live Earth Day (June 24), a jump-rope demonstration (to tie in with the documentary JUMP! on June 26), and ballroom dance lessons (before the screening of Shall We Dance, starring Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, on June 29).

And did you think we'd leave out movies? In addition to Shall We Dance, the Promenade will host screenings of favorites like The Princess Bride, the apocalyptic teen comedy Night of the Comet, and even a Christmas-in-June screening of A Christmas Story, complete with carolers!

Oh, and did we mention that all these events are FREE? That's right -- live entertainment, movies, and more, all completely gratis. You'll also find the Los Angeles Times Ticketing Pavilion on the Promenade, as well as a custom-designed outdoor lounge complete with sofas, tables, and lots of room to chill out between screenings.

See you on Broxton!

Ten Reasons Why You Should Buy an LA Film Festival Pass 1. Because "Right this way, sir/madam, you can get in first" is, let's face it, the great unspoken dream of everybody in Los Angeles. And with a Fast Pass, that dream can come true for you. You'll get priority admission -- "No Waiting. All Access." -- to the festival's regular screenings, panels, Poolside Chats, Coffee Talks, and the Financing Conference, along with two tickets to the Opening Night Gala, the Centerpiece Premiere, the Closing Night Gala, and the Transformers Premiere and Party.

2. If you're already a show business insider, what easier or more effective way to let the world know it than by flashing your Industry Pass? It's your ticket to the festival's regular screenings and provides you one ticket (because it's easier to schmooze a big room when you're working alone) to the Opening Night Gala, the Centerpiece Premiere, the Closing Night Gala, and the Transformers Premiere and Party. You also get two tickets (take someone you want to impress) to one of the Poolside Chats or one of the Coffee Talks, as well as an extra ticket (bring a date) to Opening Night, Closing Night, or the Transformers event.

3. Say you love movies ("I love movies!") but you've only got time to hit a certain amount of the Festival's many, many offerings. The Discovery Pass is just perfect for you, offering 15 tickets to any regular screenings (selected in advance); a ticket to to the Opening Night Gala, the Centerpiece Premiere, the Closing Night Gala, and the Transformers Premiere and Party (plus the opportunity to buy a second ticket to any of those); and free admission to any additional regular screenings for which you aren't already ticketed (as long as you don't mind going in stand-by).

4. For those who are enthusiastic but economical, we also offer the Westwood Village Pass, including 10 tickets to any regular screening (selected in advance), the opportunity to buy two tickets to the Transformers extravaganza (based on availability), and complimentary stand-by admission to additional regular screenings for which you haven't already reserved tickets.

5. All pass-holders will have access to the Target Red Room, the perfect place to chill out between screening. Chat with filmmakers and other festivalgoers about the hottest movies, enjoy a cocktail, and rock out to our DJs, performing live every night.

6. Nothing says summer like sitting out on the porch, and the Festival's Porch Parties are catered affairs for filmmakers, special guests, and Festival pass holders to mix and mingle, meet and greet.

7. If there's one thing we know from years past, it's that the most popular movies always sell out. But as a passholder, you'll be ahead of the game and pre-ticketed.

8. Shhh -- every year, the Festival holds an exclusive, secret screening of a film that's sure to be one of the fall's most talked-about movies. And only passholders can get it. Cool, no?

9. When you buy a Festival Pass at full price, we'll throw in a membership to Film Independent. You'll get to vote in the Spirit Awards (and have nominated films sent to your house via Netflix), attend free year-round, members-only preview screenings with filmmakers in attendance, receive FIND magazine, have access to Film Independent's production-related services and educational programs, and much, much more!

10. If you're an independent filmmaker, you need to know where the money's coming from to make your next movie -- and there's no better place to get brought up to speed on that subject than at the Festival's Film Financing Conference on Saturday, June 23. And yes, there's a pass for that too, which will give you access to the day's many panels, discussions, and activities.
